Inspired by the vanishing sub-genre of agricultural memo books, ornate pocket ledgers, and the simple, unassuming beauty of a well-crafted list, the Draplin Design Company of Portland and Coudal Partners, a Chicago creative firm, created Field Notes.

Our products offer practical American design with a sense of history and familiarity. In addition to our standard products, we also produce quarterly limited editions using different papers, form factors, and printing techniques. All Field Notes paper products are manufactured in the U.S.A.

The "Heavy Duty" Edition features a pair of memo-sized Work Books, durable enough for your toughest assignments. The covers are made of extra-beefy "Super Duty Chipboard" and have been screen-printed with thick, opaque ink, one in DDC Orange and one in Blue Sky Blue. The "flip" books are bound from the top with sturdy Double-O Wiring, to make it easy to take notes with one hand while holding the book with the other. Each book contains 80 pages, Ruled on the front with a Double Graph Grid on the back, providing space for making lists and sketching out plans.
